The Metaloterm® AT system is a modular twin wall insulated chimney system, made of stainless steel, with high quality insulation and no thermal bridges. Metaloterm® ATis suitable for high temperature, Non-Condensing applications with flue gases in negative pressure. The system is not only Chimney Fire Resistant but also reusable afterwards. Therefore the system is ideally suited for applications such as wood-fired stoves and open fireplaces.
For Passive House the Metaloterm® AT assortment provided's the ISO-BLOCK which can be combined with AT.
Due to the proven quality of Metaloterm® AT has a 30 years guarantee. This means a sound investment as other twin wall flues only have a 10 year warranty.
ISO-BLOCK is the most recent product innovation in the METALOTERM range. This lead through allows a fully sealed passage of metal flue through floor and/or roofs, eliminating any fire risk.
The unique construction also assures that all warm air stays inside which contributes to a significant energy saving.
The ISO-BLOCK is therefore perfectly suitable for use in a Passive House or Low Energy house
When the ease of construction and maximum insulation matter then the Double Module System comes into its own. The system is designed to be quick and easy to install.
The lightweight blocks are easy to handle. The outer and inner blocks are laid at the same time but with staggered joints for safety and stability. The double layer of pumice blocks separated by an air gap maximises the chimney insulation.
The Pumice Systems are suitable for wood - logs, pellets and chips, solid fuel, oil and gas.
There are 3 systems in different internal diameters to meet the requirements of different appliances and uses
Most of the chimneys and flues in the UK are designed for open fires, this means they may not be thermally suitable for a closed appliance. Or the flueway may no longer be hermetically sound due to age or poor build.
When this happens the flue can be relined.
The standard product is manufactured from 316L grade stainless steel and is supplied with a ten year warranty.
A superior 904L grade stainless steel option is also available, supplied with a twenty year warranty.
The corrugated outer wall provides crush protection during installation. The inner wall is smooth to encourage the flow of flue gasses and to discourage the build-up of soot and other potentially corrosive residue. The inner and outer walls are joined by a Triple Lock Joint System, acknowledged to be the best available for strength and longevity.
We then pull this down the flue and back fill with insulation to help keep the gases warm so they can evacuate the flueway quickly.
Our knowledge doesn’t only extend to the appliances, but it is extremely important for us to understand chimneys as well, and so we are able to advise on the best chimney for the application, and can supply this as part of the specification.
All too often we see clients having a chimney built first, only to find that the appliance that they have set their heart on is not compatible, so whilst it is important to get the appliance right for the home, it is equally important to give the chimney the same consideration at an early stage in the renovation or build project.
A chimney works by heat rising and cold air falling, this gives the pressure in the flue. For any fire to work correctly a right sized flue and insulated flue is paramount. Whether it be a new build or renovation this consideration is the same.
Below are the flues that Anglia would recommend as they boast the best that can be expected from a flue.
